About Lisa

Lisa has served as the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Academic Advisor since 2007 and is passionate about helping each of her Advisees make the most of their college experience. She was the first professional Academic Advisor hired in the UConn School of Engineering. As the most senior member of the Advising team, Lisa brings a wealth of experience and knowledge. In any given year, she advises 200-300 students, including students on the Pre-Med/Pre-Dental path. In addition, she is an Honors Advisor for Freshmen and Sophomores, and has the unique experience to advise Juniors and Seniors. She finds great satisfaction advising students beginning their freshman year and seeing them through to graduation, and being an Advisor in a major she sees as humanitarian in nature, and one that attracts many women (one of a few engineering majors with significant parity). Prior to joining the UConn School of Engineering Advising team, for many years she played a significant role as one of two staff members in the UConn Biomedical Engineering Program, which eventually became a UConn/ABET accredited Department. She helped manage many aspects of the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, in addition to Academic Advising. These duties included assisting in the coordination of ABET accreditations, enrollment/course planning and management, curricula changes, website management, Graduate Program coordination, departmental communications, survey distribution and collating, front desk services, and other essential duties. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (cum laude) from Eastern Connecticut State University and previously worked in the Bryant University Library as a Technical Services/Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, and computed behavioral statistics and helped manage IEPs in a K-12 special education residential school in CT. Lisa loves being in nature, considers herself a music addict and aspiring electric guitar player, and is proud to be the new UConn Rock Ensemble Advisor!
