For current UConn students from other schools/colleges seeking admission to the College of Engineering (effective May 2025 and beyond):
Applications for the following majors are submitted at request.engr.uconn.edu.

Applications are only reviewed twice a year – in January and June.
- To be considered for spring semester admission, you must enter your application in the request system by December 25th.
- To be considered for fall semester admission, you must enter your application in the request system by May 25th.
- You will be notified of your admission status through your UConn email address. You may only have one active application in our request portal at a time, but you can reapply for future admissions reviews if originally denied admissions to your desired major.
Beginning for 2025-2026: Students seeking entry to the College of Engineering must be admitted to the College of Engineering by the start of their 5th semester. Transfer students must be admitted prior to beginning 3000 level Engineering coursework. If you began at UConn in Fall 2023 or later, and are beyond your 5th semester, please contact shoshana.armington@uconn.edu for further eligibility information.
Admission is based on your academic performance as indicated by your cumulative grade point average (cGPA) and grades in math, lab science and engineering coursework at UConn.
Students seeking entry to the College of Engineering must be admitted to the College of Engineering by the start of their 5th semester. Transfer students must be admitted prior to beginning 3000 level Engineering coursework.
- Please note, your program and plan requirement terms (Requirement Term for College of Engineering and major requirements) are based on the term admitted to the College of Engineering. Graduation timeline is based on successful completion of pre-requisite coursework for the major and admission to the major. Your expected graduation timeline could be delayed due to strict sequencing of coursework and program/plan requirement terms.
- Completion of the following requirements with a minimum grade of C:

- Lab Science Course Requirement: A Lab Science related to major (Example: CHEM 1127Q or PHYS 1501Q) at UConn*

- Calculus Course Requirement: MATH 1131Q or beyond at UConn*

- Engineering Course Requirement: 3-credit engineering course from the following options: CSE 1010; ENGR 1166; or other major required 3-credit 2000+ level ENGR course at UConn (Ex. MSE 2101) *
- Please Note: CS / CSE / CompE/ DSE applicants must complete CSE 2050 with a grade of C or better as their ENGR course requirement.
- Engineering Course Requirement: 3-credit engineering course from the following options: CSE 1010; ENGR 1166; or other major required 3-credit 2000+ level ENGR course at UConn (Ex. MSE 2101) *
- Grade of a C or better in most recent term STEM classes
- 2.7 cumulative GPA
- Full time status at time of application (12 credits or more) or a minimum of two part time semesters
- Course withdrawals in STEM/major related coursework in the semester applying can negatively impact the chance for admissions that semester
*Note: AP credits and transfer credits are not taken into consideration during the admission review. ECE credits will be considered once non-degree decisions have been added to a student’s account (spring semester).
Note: All calculus, lab science, and engineering coursework completed does not need to be a minimum grade of C, however, most recent term STEM coursework does need to meet the C minimum grade.
- 2.79 cumulative GPA
- Grade of C or better in most recent term STEM and business classes
- Have completed each of the following areas with no grades less than a C

- Lab Science Course Requirement: A Lab Science related to major (Example: CHEM 1127Q or PHYS 1501Q) at UConn*

- Calculus Course Requirement: MATH 1131Q or beyond at UConn*

- Business Course Requirement: ACCT 2001, ECON 1201, ECON 1202, STAT 1000Q, or STAT 1100Q*
- Have earned 24 minimum credits in residence (at UConn)
- Be in good academic standing for the University
- Course withdrawals in STEM/major related coursework in the semester applying can negatively impact the chance for admission that semester

Additional/Dual Degree Information
- To apply for an Additional/ Dual Degree, please complete the “Additional Degree Petition” found on www.registrar.uconn.edu/forms instead of a request through the online portal. Fill in Part 1 and Part II on the form. Obtain your current advisor and School/College’s advising dean’s signature (leave blank the Advisor and Dean information/signatures for the Additional Degree in Part II). Bring the form to the Engineering II Building, room 303 or email the form to shoshana.armington@uconn.edu.
- Please note, the additional degree advisor and advising dean signatures will be provided if admitted to the second-degree program during January or June’s admission review. For consideration for the January admission review the deadline to submit the form is December 25th and May 25th for the June admission review.
